American cheese slices prescribe by a Doctor....
A couple of years ago after a week stay at a new beautiful medical facility (Hospital) my Dad was given a list of food the Doctor recommended for him to eat. Although I know the reason he was THINKING these foods would help my dad. I inspected the list then I looked at him and said " There is not a chance in hell that I will ever be ok with feeding you Wonder-bread, Ice-cream, or American cheese sandwich slices!!! " Are you serious?! Do doctors even know what nutrition is? Ok, I could go off on why these were horrible recommendation for my Dad, but I want to focus on the "Cheese".....

These slices may look Harmless, but they're high in salt, and the ingredient list reads like a chemistry quiz.
INGREDIENTS:
According to Kraft, American singles contain a variety of milk products such as milk, whey, milk fat and whey protein concentrate. Other ingredients, which are added for flavor, stabilizing and color include milk protein concentrate, salt, calcium phosphate, sodium citrate sodium phosphate, sorbic acid, apocarotenal, annatto, enzymes, vitamin D3 and cheese culture. Kraft's 2 percent product contains part-skim milk and dried corn syrup in addition to the other ingredients, while the fat-free variety replaces the part-skim milk with skim milk.
Ok, now we know what's in it. Is it cheese? Well I'm not sure, but this part of the story is where it gets GOOD!!
My best friend Monica loves to make beautiful things from glass. Now this is a wonderful process to watch someone take molten glass and put it on the end of a pole and blow air into and make something useful as well as beautiful. How does this relate to cheese you ask??? Well, one day as she was blowing glass with some friends they decided to take a Big- Mac sandwich and pull it apart to see how each layer of this hamburger would react if thrown into the molten glass. Now, I want you to know, Glass melts at 2552°F -2732°F
So you can already see where this is going....Bun, Gone..lettuce, pickles, onions..Gone...burger, Gone...now comes our sweet American cheese slice...into the molten glass it goes....NOT GONE! It coats the top layer of MOLTEN 2732° F GLASS, and stayed there. It never disintegrated, or melted away! OMG!! After hearing this story I will never look at an American cheese slice the same again. So for those who love it. Maybe when a doctor tells you, you should be eating it, be my guest! But for me, Thanks, but no Thanks Doc... I think I will find a healthy alternative to get fat into my diet!! *;0)
